London..

17/12/09
I decided to do a Photography walk/tour around London this morning. The winds were icy and my guide wasn't to keen on heading out in the cold but the morning ended up being a ripper. I had a 1 on 1 photography tute with a pro. I learned some very useful basic concepts and methods which will help a great deal in my work. The tour was fantastic too, we managed to squeeze in the changing of the guards at Buckingham, Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster, Trafalgar square and a few other places. Not bad for 30 quid.

I woke up to snow today. It's the first time I've ever seen snow. I'm so excited! It's steadily getting harder, so the streets might be thick with snow tonight! It's 2pm and the temperature has maxed out at 1 degree celsius. It will be dark in an hour. Sigh..

Took a look around Parliament, Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster. Astonishing architecture and history. Spotted Boudica statue which was a highlight for me.

It was freezing in Camden so I picked up a WWII army issue winter coat for 30 quid. No more layers now. It's the warmest thing in London.

I visited Buckingham Palace and the surrounding parks and statues. The weather was great but still very cold. The statues of Queen Victoria were incredible. She's really ugly though haha.

Statherian - The Ocean..

Statherian

What it means to be fully human is to strive to live by ideas and ideals
And not to measure your life by what you've attained in terms of your desires but
Those small moments of integrity, compassion, rationality... because in the end, the only way that we can measure the significance of our own lives
Is by valuing the lives of others
Fantasies have to be unrealistic
Because the moment, the second that you get what you seek, you don't, you can't want it anymore.
In order to exist, desire must have its objects perpetually absent
It's not the 'it' that you want, its the fantasy of 'it'
We are only truly happy when daydreaming about future happiness.
This is why we say: the hunt is sweeter than the kill, or: be careful what you wish for - not because you'll get it: because you're doomed not to want it once you do

Living by your wants will never make you happy.
